7. Finish this sentence - when I was little I wanted to grow up and be…  Retired. Seriously! Apparently my mum picked me up from preschool one day and I asked her if I could retire yet. Must’ve been a rough day in the sandpit.

8. What inspired you to work at RADAR? The desire to do something different in a creative environment with like-minded people. A job at Radar popped up and here I am!

9. What’s your background in design, i.e. education, etc? BA Media and Communications

10. What do you love about design? I love how broad it is.

11. Who is your favourite designer? Sydney based duo ‘We Buy Your Kids.’ They do amazing poster art.

12. Most memorable design exhibition/collection? Yayoi Kusama at the MCA was awesome.

13. What do you like about working at RADAR? The lovely people and the laid back atmosphere of the office.

14. What’s your favourite RADAR campaign/job?  I don’t really work on campaigns so I’d have to say being the keeper of the music remote is my favourite job.

15. If you weren’t in advertising, what would you do?  Something in the music industry.

I thought it was a fast-food joint. No, an entry into the wonderful world of Advertising.

Bachelor of Communications: Public Communication at UTS.

10. What do you love about design?
It is the scenic route; everything is much easier and enjoyable with aesthetics. It’s a manifestation of everyone’s unique spirit – we all imagine, create and see it differently.

11. Who is your favourite designer?
Arist; Kandinsky/Franz Marc, Fashion: Akira, Magazines; the illustrator in Frankie Magazine.

12. Most memorable design exhibition/collection?
The Kandinsky/ Monet/ Van Gogh exhibition at Centre Pompidou in Paris.

13. What do you like about working at RADAR?
Free Diet coke, people, City Edge, the work, the music.

14. What’s your favourite RADAR campaign/job
CBA Foundations; anything copywriting and emptying the bins.

15. If you weren’t in advertising, what would you do?
Be an actress/ designer/ visual merchandiser/nomad

1. What’s your favourite colour?
Blue like the ocean

2. What’s your favourite film?
Breakfast at Tiffanys mainly for Audrey Hepburn. Love.
Up because its so sad/funny and bloody brilliant.

3. What’s your favourite sound?
Glasses clinking when you say ‘cheers’

4. What’s your favourite band/musician?
Hmm right now I’m obsessed with Julian Casablancas. Dreamboat. Amazing. Sigh.
But I’m from Manchester so my all time favourite band is Oasis.

5. Favourite word?
Cheese. I love cheese of all varieties and could probably happily live off it.

6. Least favourite word?
‘Urgent’

A vet cos I lived on a farm.

8. What inspired you to work at RADAR?
New challenge, new people, new clients, new routine. I loved Radar the first time I came and I had to work here.

9. What’s your background in design, i.e. education, etc?
I have a BA(hons) in Design & Art Direction from Manchester Met University.  Prior to that I was at Art College drawing and painting for two years – the best two years ever.

10. What do you love about design?
Freedom to express yourself with colour and text, I love typography and could type set all day, which is probably a good thing. I also think that working in design allows you to meet the best people and your always being inspired without even realising.

11. Who is your favourite designer?
David Carson – for his totally mega awesome typography work on Ray Gun magazine.
Peter Saville – Factory Records Manchester designer. He made the visuals of Manchester’s music history iconic and Blue Monday by New Order is my favourite track of all time. Legend.

12. Most memorable design exhibition/collection?
I just went and saw Da Vinci in the States which was good.
Most memorable was probably the Sensations Exhibition in London maybe 1998 when Damien Hirst’s sliced up cow in formaldehyde was on display. Yuck but fascinating.

13. What do you like about working at RADAR?
I’ve been here 4 days but I already feel at home and that definitely has to be down to friendly, lovely people. Cheers guys.

15. If you weren’t in advertising, what would you do
Be a full time traveller photographing and painting the world.

I watched the film Food Inc recently, gross, I could never work in a meat factory.

1. What’s your favourite colour? It has got to be black.

2. What’s your favourite film? The Breakfast Club.

3. What’s your favourite sound? A Fender Stratocaster through a Marshall Amp.

4. What’s your favourite band/musician? The Beatles of course!

5. Favourite word? Canny

6. Least favourite word? Sunderland

7. Finish this sentence - when I was little I wanted to grow up and be…  Paul McCartney.

8. Why did you become a designer? What inspired you? I liked the fact that you can answer a brief in 100 different ways.

9. What’s your background in design, i.e. education, etc? I studied a Diploma and a Higher National Diploma in Graphic Design at Newcastle College in the UK. I also spent some time in London at a large brand agency called Corporate Edge whilst I was studying.

10. What do you love about design? The thing I love about design is the freedom it offers.

11. Who is your favourite designer? I like a lot of Peter Saville’s work. He designed a lot of album sleeves for Factory records including the famous sleeve for Joy Division’s album Unknown Pleasures. Also, although known primarily as an artist, I think Picasso’s work is a great lesson for graphic designer.

12. Most memorable design exhibition/collection? I went to the Museum of Modern Art in New York just before coming to Australia. Unbelievable. I also visited the Louvre which was amazing. The Mona Lisa is tiny!

13. What do you like about working at RADAR? Hearing Rachel talk to herself and Reece hiccup.

14. What’s your favourite RADAR campaign/job? I like working on concepts for exhibitions. It is a chance to work with a huge amount of space to bring a concept alive. We have recently created an exhibition stand for Tyndall Investment completely out of Lego which is apparently the biggest Lego structure to built outside of Denmark for 25 years. Guinness book of records anyone? (You may need to check the facts with Jordan on this one). Apart from that I like a lot of the advertising we do.

15. If you weren’t in advertising, what would you do? I would probably want to own a guitar shop.

16. Finish this sentence -  the best career advice I ever received is… if you are going to be in advertising make sure you can drink your own body weight in alcohol.

17. What career/job would you never do? Bin man.

18. Who is the funkiest dresser at RADAR? I would say Andrew’s broken fingers. Beige is in this season.

8. Why did you become a finished artist? What inspired you?

Learning about typography and how powerful print is. Before computers we made up ads by hand and it was like doing jigsaw puzzles.

9. What’s your background in design, i.e. education, etc?

Kangaroo Point College of TAFE encompassing a 4-year apprenticeship learning all aspects of artwork/printing.

10. What do you love about design?

Being able to visualise how something will look, a skill not many people have. Seeing the printed product after the blood sweat and tears.

11. Who is your favourite designer?

Jonathan Theo

12. Most memorable design exhibition/collection?

Art after Dark – annual night trip around Sydney visiting various museums, art and design exhibitions.

13. What do you like about working at RADAR?

The variety and being able to work on a job from start to finish. I enjoy both long documents and large format outdoor artwork.

I became a designer because of personal interest in the area which was exaggerated through my friends, local artists and skateboarding.

The freedom of expression through artwork.

Saul Bass

12. Most memorable design exhibition/collection?
The Monster Children Gallery is always impressive with quality artwork from a variety of interesting artists.

The diversity of work and great people.

I enjoy working on the Macquarie projects; they have a stylised, clean corporate look that works well in different applications. Also, the body of work produced for the CBA is pretty cool.

Product design or carpentry.
