Introducing our favourite Kiwi Designer Lisa…
1. What’s your favourite colour? Love a bit of orange, closely followed by red
2. What’s your favourite film? Too many favourites so have to name my top 3: Whale Rider, Once Were Warriors and Remember the Titans
3. What’s your favourite sound? The sweet, sweet sound of victory when the All Blacks beat the Wallabies.
4. What’s your favourite band/musician? I’m a bit partial to Lenny Kravitz but purely for aesthetics and nothing to do with his musical talent.
5. Favourite word? Kanoodle and jandals always has a good ring to it.
6. Least favourite word? Debt
7. Finish this sentence - when I was little I wanted to grow up and be… An air hostess, really don’t know what I was thinking?
8. Why did you start the company? What inspired you? I realised at a young age that I was rubbish at maths, science, English and languages so I know I was destined for the creative world… My position at RADAR came up after I initially applied for a different role, so it all work out right nicely.
9. What’s your background in design, i.e. education, etc? I have a Diploma in Product Design, which I obtained in Zealand and a Certificate IV in Graphic Design. I have been working as a Designer in various studios and agencies in Sydney for about 5 years.
10. What do you love about design? I love the whole process of design and how an idea evolves from the initial concept. I also still get a kick out of seeing your finished product whether it’s out on a billboard or an ad in a magazine.
11. Who is your favourite designer? Anre Jacobson and I know he’s an architect but Frank Lloyd Wright.
12. Most memorable design exhibition/collection? I thought the Vivid Sydney was pretty choice, personally I think they should light up the Opera House more often.
13. What do you like about working at RADAR? The peeps for sure!
14. What’s your favourite RADAR campaign/job? Hmmmm I haven’t been working here long enough to comment.
15. If you weren’t in advertising, what would you do? Would love to set up my own workshop where I could restore old furniture.
16. Finish this sentence - the best career advice I ever received is… A wise tutor once said to me ‘Design is the art of knowing what to leave out’.
17. What career/job would you never do? Nurse… actually anything medical; I just can’t be trusted to administer drugs.
18. Who is the funkiest dresser at RADAR? Helene and Marrissa
19. Finish this sentence - the best place to go for lunch/coffee/drinks in Surry Hills is…
Lunch – there is a little Japanse place on Devonshire St, which I love
Coffee – don’t drink it
Drinks – anywhere that serves the nectar from the Gods
